Optional Tours

We will also be organising optional tours to visit the sights of Lijiang during your free and easy time (you can choose to join according to your preferences, additional expenses to be separately paid, transport to the sights included):

Day 1: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area, including Spruce Meadow and Blue Moon Valley ($110 SGD per person)

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is an enormous mountain with an elevation of 5,596m. This mountain is regarded as a holy mountain by Naxi people. Take the cable car to Spruce Meadow which is at an elevation of 3,240m. This is a huge lawn hidden in the original spruce forest, full of green grass and colourful
mountain flowers in the spring and summer. You will be able to see the amazing Jade Dragon Snow Mountain up close.

Then you will head to the Blue Moon Valley (tram ride included). This is an extremely blue river meandering through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain between Ganhaizi and Spruce Meadow. It is mainly composed of four large turquoise lakes and dozens of miniature white waterfalls. The incredible scenery in Blue Moon Valley makes the place a perfect spot to feast your eye.

Day 2: Baisha Old Town and Yuhu Village (SGD$35)

Baisha Old Town: It is an quaint ancient town, at the edge of the Jade Dragon  Snow Mountain, where it was the political, economic and cultural centre of Lijiang prior to the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644). Wandering along the village, you can freely enter courtyards to see beautiful and man made tie-dye artwork by the Naxi people, hanging for sale or drying in the sun.

Yuhu Village: This is the last village of the valley and situated at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The houses in this village is very different as it is made of a unique stone called “monkey head” by Naxi people, and it is a mix of rocks and dried earth. The famous botanist Dr Rock Joseph who came to study the plants in this area, lived in this village for 27 years. Enjoy an afternoon coffee in this quiet village.

Day 3: Shuhe Old Town and Lijiang (Dayan) Old Town (SGD$35)

Shuhe Old Town: This old town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. This old town is one of the oldest habitats of Lijiang and a well preserved town on the Ancient Tea Route showing the history of Naxi ethnic minority group from farming centralisiation to commercial centralisation. It is more rustic and
tranquil compared to Lijiang Old Town:

Lijiang (Dayan) Old Town: At an elevation of 2400m, this is one of China’s best-preserved minority ancient town by the Naxi people, and the only one among China’s ancient towns without city walls. It is famous for its ancient architecture and orderly system of waterways. It is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. You will have afternoon tea at a teahouse and learn about the history of Chinese tea making, details of the Chinese tea ceremony and tea pouring, in addition to tasting various kinds of tea. You will also try the local flower biscuits that Yunnan is famous for.

Day 4: Ancient Tea Horse Route Tour (SGD$60)

Lijiang is one of the most important transportation centres on the ancient Tea Horse trail as it links Sichuan and Tibet. For Tibetan merchants, they would not venture further as they do not know the language and do not adapt easily to the lifestyle and hot weather of the inland. The same goes for the merchants coming from Sichuan, as the cold climate and harsh conditions in Tibet, prevents them from going further past Lijiang. As a result, Lijiang became a main spot for trade.

Follow the ancient trails of the merchants on horseback, visit the clear waters of Laishi Lake with its picturesque views, and enjoy a sumptuous local Naxi chcken hotpot lunch and afternoon tea.

Day 5: Lijiang Eternal Love performance (SGD$68)

Watch an amazing show comprising of dance, acrobatic, martial arts, panoramic pecial effects using IMAX3D screens, which describes the thousand year history and fables of Lijiang. You will be treated to VIP seats, which has the best view in the house to watch this performance
